Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but I’d like tothink that we need to show more love and affection than just once a year. Thereare so many different ways to express feelings of love on Valentine’s Day, someare sweet, some sentimental and others pure festive. I have to admit, I amcompletely smitten with today’s Valentine’s Day submission from the lovelyLarissa of Sweet on Parties. This charming Vintage “Sew n Love” Dessert Table isexecuted beautifully. What I love the most about this dessert table was theinspiration behind the shoot.

Larissasaid: This Valentine’s Day Dessert table was inspired by my grandmother'swooden sewing box which l found hidden away in the back of my closet! I thoughtit would be ideal to display desserts in so l started to think of a table thatcould incorporate my passion for baking and my grandmothers passion for sewingand cross stitch and came up with Sew N Love. I loved the idea ofcreating a table with a shabby chic feel and thought a quilt backdropwould be ideal for this theme. I used a canvas and various patternedpapers in floral, chevron, tartan and dot print along with paper rosettes anddoilies to complete this Sew Sweet backdrop. I wanted this table to befeminine but with a masculine edge so l used shades of brown, red, pink andgreen.

I made all of the desserts which included Caramel Kisses, Choc Fudge Cake Pops,Triple Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Bean Cookies, Vanilla Cupcakes, RaspberryMelting Moments and Salty Sweet Caramels as well as buying some sugar heartcandy and chocolate bars wrapped in Sew n Love wrappers. I continued withthe Sewing theme and used embossing mats to create fondant toppers to resemblematerial and adorned these with handmade material rosettes and shimmer fondantbuttons and pearls. I also made up some lovely favours to take home which were"Fill my heart with love" pin cushions in a red and green spottedfelt along with the pattern, needle, thread and stuffing.

Pink & Vintage White Christening

What alovely way to start the New Year! Today, i had the pleasure of styling adessert table for a little princess and let me tell you, everything lookabsolutely perfect! The Christening washeld at the St. George Sailing Club and the waterfront views created the mostmagnificent backdrop. The theme of the christening was elegance and glamour andme as a stylist portrayed this through the choice of soft pink and vintagewhite palette, soft flowers and use of lace.

From the beautifullyhandcrafted lace cookies, elegant lace cake, divine rose pink cupcakes, everydetail tied in perfectly with the theme. Each child received a party bag withsome delicious treats. For the bonbonnieres, I used mini apothecary jars whichI purchased via Sweet Style and I filled them up with cookies and embellishedthem with personalized scalloped tag and ribbon.

I am the girliest of girls and when it comes to weddings,I’m all about the ruffles, lace, pretty floral arrangements and amazinglystyled dessert tables. Having said that, Dewi of Sweet Bloom Cakes never seemsto disappoint with her impeccable style! I would like to thank Dewi for giving me theopportunity to share this amazing wedding, infused with sweetness and styleinto every detail.

The wedding was held on the 30^th December2011 at the Berowra Water Inn and I had the pleasure of designing theprintables for this gorgeous event. All of the flowerscoordinated with the colour palette of red, antiquewhite and teal. Our Camping Adventure...

Firstly, i would like to wish you a Happy New Year; ihope you all had a fabulous time with your family and friends! Despite having never successfully followed through ona New Year’s resolution, yet each year I set myself a goal that drives me intothe next 365 days. This year I have few “realistic” lifestyle goals which Iwould like to follow…work less, sleep more…eat less, drink more…worry less,enjoy life…and last one “do more of what makes me happy”!

The last few days have been exactlythat! Camping is definitely not my forte but I must say that my hubby proved mewrong! The past 4 days have been so relaxing, I have entirely enjoyed spendingquality time with my boys, building sand castles, going fishing, soaking up thesun, sitting by the fire and eating marshmallows, playing cards and catching upon some long needed beauty sleep…total bliss! Each morning we were woken up bythe sound of the ocean waves, followed by a delicious breakfast and loads offun activities. There was no receptionat the camping site so not being able to check my emails and update my statuson facebook was exactly what I needed! Each night we sat by the campfire, whileour dinner was cooking and we were surrounded by the beautiful wallabies.Aniken was beside himself! He kept saying “mama, look at the kangaroo’s” J bless!

What I loved the most is watching myboys go fishing while I was sitting with my feet up, soaking up the sun andreading my favourite magazines. Aniken was ecstatic when he caught his fistfish with his own fishing rod. The look on his face was priceless! Spending thetime away with my family, made me think, how did I end up with the most amazingson and hubby in the whole world? They are both the greatest blessings in my life! xx

Wow I can’t believe Christmas is almost here and we are about to enter twenty twelve. Howtime flies when you are having fun! Spotted! Totally sweet & adorable modern Christening dessert table with a vintagetwist! It’s got all of the recipes for a swoon-tastic celebration. What makes it even more special that my lovely friend Linda of HarperEvent Design styled this gorgeous event for her beautiful daughter Grace. I amblown away by all the gorgeousness!

From ruffles to lace to ombre, these amazing cakes have MLJ written allover it! Totally my kind of celebration. When you combine the amazingstyling of Linda with the gorgeous sweets made by Helen and having theseprecious moments captured by Jess, it all turns into magic! Did i mention this gorgeous dessert table was featured on Amy Atlas!

Linda said: I wanted to create a soft vintage feel to the room anddecided on collecting hundreds of doilies to place on the tables accompanied bysoft flowers. I also handmade pom poms and chocolate bars for every guest as a bonbonniere.For the dessert table, I wanted to use pastel pink, green and blue to reflectthe invitations. I had the backdrop printed to create a vintage feel and added3 different types of cakes. I wanted to create a youthful fun feel to the wholeevent and incorporated lots of lollies and sweets. Grace wore the Christeninggown I was Christened in many years ago which made the event trulyvintage.

Confettiis a classic party decoration that has never dated. It evokes a sense of celebrationand playfulness in all. The centre of our dessert table is a simple two tier doublebarrel cake covered in fondant adorned with stunning shimmer confetti dots.

Fragrantvanilla cupcakes with Baileys infused buttercream sit upon a layer of pink cachousto make the cupcakes sparkle. Little fondant discs with “Celebrate” embossedinto them tie the theme together perfectly. Confetticookies in three different sizes, some covered with disco glitter add that sparklethat we all associate with New Years Eve. Strawberry Cheesecake Martinis andpink Champagne tie the entire table together.

All that {Glitters in Gold}

Theholiday season is upon us and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate thansharing this glamorous and sparkly issue of My Little Jedi Online Magazine. Theinspiration behind the front cover shoot came about from my love of glitter andbeing able to celebrate Christmas during summer. How I picture an Australian Christmas,well just imagine Santa's cap floating in a swimming pool on a sunny day ormaking a snow man from beach sand with a seagull sitting on his sun hat.

Shadesof blush, peach and gold paired with the sweetest touches of lace, tulle andglitter was the perfect inspiration for a completely festive celebration. Well,all I can say that lately I have been going GAGA over everything that sparkles!I wanted to create something glamorous, whimsical and dreamy and instead of usingcandy, I filled up the jars with gold, hot pink and pale pink glitter dustwhich made an enormous statement on the dessert table!

Fromglitter cakes, mini glitter macarons, sweet Christmas tree cookies andpink/gold glitter ruffle macaron tower, the table was bursting with shimmer andsparkle. Dewi used her magic wand and created the fabulous sequins inspiredombre cake! The tablewas adorned with a gorgeous confetti system tassel garland in the shades of pink,peach and gold and let’s not forget the heavenly ocean backdrop which complimentedthe dessert table beautifully.

I utterly enjoyed working with Dewi of SweetBloom Cakes and Nicole of Centre of Attention Photography; they helped me bringto life the vision that I had of styling the perfect dessert table for the MLJChristmas issue. Dewi created the most magical cakes and macarons and Nicolecaptured every tiny detail magnificently. Also, Denin made the perfect Christmas tree cookies which tied well with the rest of the theme. Lastly, i would like to thank Amy Atlas and her team for featuring my dessert table today, i feel very honoured! xx

Nutty Chocolate Pavlova Tree

Jacki said: Find your favourite Pavlova recipe,or use the one below, and made a few quick and easy changes to the way it isput together and you have a Pavlova Tree or a Pavlova in a jar – great to serveon Christmas day and for party favours for your guests.

Ingredients: -

6egg whites (room temperature)

330gms caster sugar

1tbs cornflour

1tsp balsamic vinegar

25gmscocoa powder

6Ferrero chocolates, crushed

600mlsthickened cream

1vanilla bean, scraped

1/3cup icing sugar

Pistacchionuts, hulled and crushed

Punnetof blueberries

1. Preheat oven to 140°C. Line 2 baking trayswith baking paper.

2. Using an electric mixer, beat eggwhites in alarge bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the caster sugar. Continue beating untilmeringue is thick and glossy, about 5-7 minutes. Sift cocoa powder into meringue andfold in the crushed ferrero chocolates.

3. If making the pavlova tree, spoon themeringue mixture into rounds on your baking paper using different sizes circles. This will achieve the Christmas tree coneshape. Make as many rounds as you like and make the tree ashigh or wide as you like.

4. Put the trays in the oven and immediatelylower the temperature to 120°C. Depending in the size of your shells the cooking time willtake between 1 and 1½ hours. Keep checking. The shells will be ready when the surfaces arehard. Turn the oven off and leave thedoor ajar until the oven is cooled.

5. To make chantilly cream, beat thickened creamtogether with the scraped vanilla bean and icing sugar until stiff peaks areachieved.

6. To assemble, get your favourite cake standand place a small blob of cream on the stand and start layering the pavlova shells,with the larger circles on the bottom and work your way up. In between each layer, pipe the chantilly cream with sprinkle with the pistachio nuts and blueberries. Top the tree witha swirl of cream and a luscious blueberry.

Adding a little 2 bites sweetness to your Christmas table

Whether it’s that wonderful spice aroma thatfills the home, the laughter and creativity that your children display whendecorating gingerbread or the anticipation and build up to Christmas Day wheneveryone can enjoy the flavour and find what treats are hidden beneath theroof. What I especially love about making a gingerbread house is the coming togetherof family and friends and sharing my love of baking.

In saying that I would love to share my love forbaking with you and inspire you to bake and create your own creativegingerbread house. Due to gingerbread becoming increasingly popular over thelast few years, there are many kits available that include templates andpremixes. Aldi, Ikea, Myer and major grocery chains have these kits availablebut most gingerbread recipes have basic ingredients and most of which are staplesin your pantry. You can Google a ‘gingerbread recipe’ and chooseone that suits your tastes. I use a recipe with other spices which includesequal cinnamon and ginger – my children love this recipe and it creates abeautiful colour!

You can also search ‘gingerbread template’ onGoogle images and choose your preferred size and shape. Special gingerbreadhouse cutters are also available from specialty cake decorating stores. I wouldalso recommend making your gingerbread house over two days. Day one for bakingof the pieces, allowing them to cool and day two for the assembly and finaldecorations.

Firstly, i would like to say that ihave not been able to stop smiling since the launch of our first issue. We havereceived an amazing response and i wish i could reach right through thecomputer and give each and every one of you a huge hug.

I absolutely love receiving your dailyemails about how much you enjoy reading our magazine, i truly appreciate thefeedback. It has been lovely to see how much support we have received from our family,friends, facebook fans and blog followers; you have truly embraced our labourof love. I dream of Pastel Christmas

Thereare many ways to get creative during the holiday season and you don’t alwayshave to use the traditional colours when decorating. December is the month inwhich we start unpacking the boxes labelled ‘Christmas ‘and unwrap eachornament that has been carefully swaddled in tissue paper. This Christmas Ihave decided to update the colour palette and go for a feminine and glamorouslook.

Ifyou are in possession of a sweet tooth you are going to love this table set up.This Christmas I dream of candy coated pastels, in any shape and form. Thedreamy palette of mint, peach, lemon and rose pink, it almost reads like anice-cream parlour menu.

Theinspiration behind this dessert table came from my latest printable papercollection which I have incorporated in this shoot. I have combined the two ofmy favourite things of the holiday season, lovely wrapping and delicioussweets. I adore a pretty package anytime of the year, but especially when I packagegifts for my little boy. If you’re anything like me, half of the fun of the holidayseason revolves around picking up little gifts you know your loved ones will adoreand wrapping them up in the prettiest wrapping paper.

The dessert table was covered with a pale pink smocked table cloth and I used a vintage shabby chic box to create height to the table. One of the favourite treats on this dessert table is the delicious mix of fruit jelly slices, piled on top of each other on the sweet pink mini cake stand. Don’t forget to add a touch of sparkle to your gift wrapping this Christmas.

Meet Linda of Harper Event Design

Enticing, feminine & pretty is how I am going to describe today’s post. I would like to welcome our new blog sponsor Linda, the mastermind behind {Harper Event Design}. 1. Tell us a little about YOU, the woman behind {Harper Event Design}? When did you launch your business and what is the inspiration behind your business?

Officially Harper Event Design (HED) was launched in 2008, however my husband and I were both working full-time until I went on Maternity Leave in March this year. This has given me the opportunity to dedicate a lot of time on building the business. HED is actually the brainchild of my husband who worked for an event company in London for 7 years before we met.

2. Who and what inspires your work?
I know it’s cliché, but everyday people do. My background is in psychology and seeing the hardships people go through on a day to day basis really keeps me grounded and I feel that if they can do it surely I can. It really motivates me to keep moving forward with our dream of building HED.

In terms of my design aesthetic, my mind is always thinking about new ideas and different ways to use things. Every store I go into my head is spinning. I am a huge fan of Preston Bailey, Amy Atlas and Martha Stewart, which is where I draw alot of my vision.

3. What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
Being able to see the reactions of the client and their guests. I love hearing that our work played a part in the enjoyment of someone’s event. I feel privileged that people put trust in my vision and enable me to create what I see in my head.

4. What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
Our “Pink Ribbon Shoot” being featured on the Amy Atlas blog and being picked by Hostess with the Mostess as the number 2 Party of the week in October 2011. I am one of their biggest fans and seeing my work featured on the blogs was absolutely mind blowing. I felt as though I climbed the top of the mountain and achieved a huge goal of mine.

5. Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
I have raided all the op shops in my area and have bought hundreds of doilies for my daughters “Vintage” themed Christening. I remember as a child, my mum having so many doilies around the house and thinking how daggy they were. Who would have thought they have made a big comeback and I am paying money for them now :)

6. What would be your best 3 tips for someone thinking of styling their own dessert table?
1. Research, research, research…..type in key words in google and scan through lots of images for inspiration. Make a folder with all these images so you can easily refer back to.

2. Know your theme before you start going shopping or else you’ll be left with a mishmash of items you can’t use.

3. Give yourself enough time to plan your event, there’s nothing worse than a rush job and forgetting to put key elements into the look.

7. If you could style a party for a “well known/A list” celebrity, who would you choose and why?
Oh wow, at the moment I think I would have to say Rachel Zoe – celebrity stylist. I am obsessed with her show on Foxtel and totally enjoy her fashion! Her style is so smooth, clean and fresh…..I would love to be able to create a gorgeous brunch for Rachel and her girlfriends.

8. Name your three favourite party themes and tell us what do you love about them?
Vintage – I love op shopping and love being able to bring life to items that have had their day. Mixing old elements and turning them into modern masterpieces is so much fun. Lots of girly…lace, tulle, pastel colours and doilies.

Moroccan – I absolutely love all the colours…….the clashing of textures, fabrics and colours really gives me the freedom to explore and create a lush atmosphere.

Pink – I’m not usually one to wear pink or don’t consider myself overly girly but for some reason I totally enjoy styling parties with pink. It may be my girly side trying to get out, but it is fun shopping for delicate and soft colours to match the party I am creating. It doesn’t necessarily have to be all pink but the bonus to doing a pink party is that other colours work really well with this colour so it makes it easier to shop for props etc.

9. Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}
Bright colours. I have never been one to wear lots of black and am really enjoying all the block colours that are around at the moment for spring. Whether it’s flowers, clothes, paint, whatever……I love it!

10. What is your day-to-day like?
Tiring and chaotic at the moment. Living on minimal sleep. I have a gorgeous little 6 month old baby girl Grace so my day begins at 7am and usually ends at about midnight. Trying to juggle motherhood, starting an online business and event styling is challenging but something I enjoy immensely.

My home has now turned into a warehouse full of stock and gorgeous products for our online store that is launching very soon. I think this is the calm before the storm and my days will be even busier (if that’s possible). A lot of my time during the day is also consumed with making/taking phone calls (lots of them), sending/replying to emails and lots of research on the computer.

11. What does the future hold for {Harper Event Design}?
We are in the process of launching an online store that will stock boutique items and brands that I have hand picked. Ideally, I am concentrating on building my clientele for the shop and getting in some wonderful brands. I’d also love to keep building up the event styling part of the business and be booked up every week :)

12. What is your favourite place in the world?
It has to be Noosa. This is where I married my wonderful husband in 2007. Since we met in 2005 we have returned every year and love the laid back urban feel to it. I would love to retire there one day...

A day in the life of...{me}

Today i would love to share an article i wrote for one of my fabourite blogs of all time {The Style Net}. The topic of the article was "a day in the life..." so i decided to write about my son's 2nd birthday party! Grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read. xx

Oh happy day…

It’s 3am and the house is peaceful and not to mention full of props, candy and balloons ready for Aniken’s 2nd birthday party. I am not even tired and my brain refuses to shut down. I think to myself I might as well stay up and continue with the set up. I slowly open Aniken's bedroom door to check on him and make sure he is still covered as he loves to kick the blanket away. His angelic face truly melts my heart, miraculously he is still covered so I gave him a quick kiss on the forehead and I am off to the kitchen. The preparation for the party is already underway.

It's 5am and i am in a desperate need of a strong coffee! I finally sit down on my rocking chair, with a cup of coffee in hand, planning the day ahead. I am sipping my coffee and looking at the giant pile of candy sitting on my dining table. (Temptation, temptation)! The candy jars, cake stands and props are all lined up in the kitchen ready to go. I am using the re-vamped shabby chic buffet (which I sanded, painted and adorned) to display all the delicious candy and sweets. The buffet is ready to go and it’s looking exactly how I imaged it.

Its 6.30am and my little man is already up, I can hear him calling out “mama” from the bedroom! I am standing in front of his cot and he is reaching out to give me a hug. Oh, his face is so warm and cuddly, he has wrapped his hands around my neck, legs around my waist…the best feeling in the world! Hubby has started preparing the breakfast while Aniken is laying on the couch watching “peppa pig” on the ipad. {Aniken is totally obsessed with this show}. And me, well I continue with the set of the backdrop and photo booth. The kids will have so much fun with all these props and I can’t wait to see the look on Aniken’s face.

Its 7.30am and breakfast is served, it smells as good as it looks. Eggs benedict on a sourdough toast (totally scrumptious)! I have to flush this down with my daily dose of peppermint infusion which keeps me going until the next meal.

Its 8.30 am and the delicious macaroons have been dropped off. I have to admit Catherine has done an amazing job. Half an hour later Dewi has arrived as well and delivered Aniken’s scrumptious rosette birthday cake, cakes in jars and cupcakes! All I can say is wow, the candy buffet is finally complete and it looks totally splendid. It’s time for me to snap some shots for my online magazine and blog. I will never forget Aniken’s face when he saw the candy bar for the very first time, it was literary like winning the “Golden Ticket”. The colour palette of chocolate, turquoise and mustard tied in perfectly with the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” theme. Candy overload is all I can say.

It’s 11 am and the party is all set up, Aniken is having a nap and it’s time for me to sit down and enjoy a glass of bubby with my mum and unwind. The weather is not looking too bad, little overcast but at least it’s not raining. While waiting for the guests to arrive hubby and I are having a photo booth session with all the props. (so much fun!)

Before I realize the backyard is full! The kids have kicked their shoes off and are already bouncing away on the jumping castle. Aniken is awake and the first thing he spotted was the giant cake shaped jumping castle and he is ready to join the fun. After loads of fun and a lovely lunch, it is time to cut the cake. Aniken has enjoyed blowing the candles several times and finally we get to taste the mouth-watering pistachio butter cake with vanilla bean swiss meringue filling. (One of the best tasting cakes I have ever had).

The party is coming to an end and the kids have had an amazing day filled with lots of fun. Little Aniken is looking very tired and he is ready for a relaxing bath and bed time. Hubby has already cleaned all the mess in and outside the house while I am sitting on the couch absolutely exhausted downloading the images of Aniken’s party which will be featured in my online magazine and Amy Atlas’ (the queen of dessert tables) blog.

I must say the last few months have been super busy but extremely fun as I have turned my dream into a reality. Tomorrow is a huge day for me and MLJ, the launch of my very first issue of My Little Jedi online magazine. All the hard work and sleepless nights have finally paid off. I am happy with the layout of the magazine and I can’t wait to share it with my readers. Its 11.30pm and I can’t keep my eyes open, I can finally go to bed and have a good night sleep.

Candy Coated Baby Shower

If you are in possession of a sweet tooth you are going to love this sweet baby shower which i styled last weekend. Candy coated pastels and baby showers go hand in hand! I chose the shades of mint, lemon, rose pink and powdery blue which tied in perfectly. For the centrepiece is used the lovely wishing tree which was adorned with little birds and i must admit not only looks super cute but also it’s a great way for the family and friends to leave a sweet little message which can be kept forever. Catherine from 2Bites used her magic wand and made the delicious cupcakes.

1st Birthday Tea Party

Life is delicious…make time for tea!

Today's post is all about ruffles, macarons and gorgeous styling. If you ask me this is one of the most gorgeous tea party i have ever seen. Just my style! I love all things pink so it took my breath away to see the little tea pot set and the gorgeous ruffle cake! This amazing tea party was styled by {Avie and Lulu} and it was inspired by vintage florals and pastel colour palette of soft pink, pale blue and whites.

They have used Vintage Pink Fenton glassware which they have collected over many years and paper garlands in rose pink and white formed the backdrop. Instead of lolly bags, children were given a pretty cupcake in love heart box as a take home gift. I am totally smitten by all the gorgeous details and would love to congratulate Avie and Lulu on the Amy Atlas feature. Thank you so much for sharing this special event with our readers. Enjoy xx

Oh Happy Day...

I can’t even begin to tell you or even describe how excited, happy, overwhelmed, delighted I am right now! I am bursting with joy and excitement as I have finally pursued my dream and turned it into a reality! As most of you already know last night I launched my very first issue of My Little Jedi Online Magazine and the response I have received is absolutely amazing.

I would like to thank every single one of you and also let you know how much I appreciate your continuous support. A good friend of mine posted this on facebook yesterday “the most rewarding accomplishment in life is finding your own niche” and this is so true…for me anyway! My Little Jedi Online Magazine means so much to me; it is truly a labour of love! An outlet where I can express my passion, creativity and inspiration and share it with all of you.

And the excitement doesn’t end here, this morning when i woke up and I had an email from Amy Atlas’ team congratulating me on the launch of my magazine and also advised me that Aniken’s party has been posted. The countless hours spent working on the online magazine as well as planning Aniken’s party simultaneously have finally paid off!

I will never forget the look on Aniken’s face when he saw the candy bar for the very first time, for me it was literary like winning the “Golden Ticket”! Even though he will not remember this very special day when he is older I still wanted to create something special just for him which I didn’t have as a child. And I must say that I entirely enjoyed styling his party and sourcing all the different sweets, candy and props which made his party complete.

The future is looking very bright for My Little Jedi and I can’t wait to immerse myself into planning my second issue. I am in a process of finalizing the topics and cannot wait to continue working with so many talented women. Its taken me few weeks to get this post up as i have been very busy with planning Aniken's second birthday, launching the very first issue of {My Little Jedi} online magazine and working on few other exciting projects and i cant even tell you when was the last time i went to bed before 2am.

On a different note, i would love to share these super cute images of my little boy Aniken. He was invited to be a part of the main fashion shoot for Shop 4 Kids magazine which came out few weeks ago. I am so proud of him, as he entirely enjoyed himself at the shoot and he is such a little poser! Oh and the joy of buying the spring shop 4 kids issue, i quickly flicked through the pages and there he was ~ staring at me, with his angelic face, perfect catwalk pose and crazy hippy print outfit which he totally rocked! :)

He also did a shoot for Bonds recently and the images are absolutely adorable but i cant share them as yet as the Winter 2012 Collection is not out yet. But i promise as soon as the images are released to the media i will share them on my blog.

My Little Jedi at Mathilda's Markets

After a long and exciting day at Mathilda’s markets yesterday, I have finally had the chance to sit down and upload the photos of my stall. I must say after walking into the Bryon Kennedy Hall yesterday morning it was instantly clear that shoppers were in for a real treat. The hall was transformed into babies and kids shopping heaven.

I was also pleased to see so many familiar faces as well as meet many of our customer and blog followers who came past our stall and introduced themselves. I am constantly tweaking my stall set-up, seeing what works and what it best to display my products. Height and using different types of vintage props are definitely are great way to catch people’s eye. I was also very pleased with the feedback I received about my stall set up.

I would like mention that we are slowly transitioning our stationary range so we can fully concentrate on our party printables. We are also involved with so many other exciting projects including our own online magazine which will launch on the 12th of September. Hope you had a lovely time at the markets and didn't have too much pram rage. xx

I'm the younger of two sisters, am married to a very supportive, loving husband and I have 4 gorgeous children including twins! Being a typical Taurian those that know me best would say I am a bit stubborn, can be a little too ‘set in my ways’, and a perfectionist. I am a huge sentimentalist with fond memories of my ALL my childhood parties. Through Tout Mon Amour I get to share all my great loves in one place... beautiful pieces for children, the home and most importantly my "Must Have" party-ware for those very special celebrations...birthdays!! Other big passions are fine food and wine...travel and I have a slight adventurous streak...

When did you launch your business/blog and what is the inspiration behind your business?
Tout Mon Amour launched in December 2010. The inspiration behind my online store comes from the desire to source unique, clothing, giftware and party ware for my children with my focus primarily on handmade.

Who and what inspire your work?

What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
Definitely seeing Tout Mon Amour finally go "live" after all the months of planning! -From developing the overall design, to securing the perfect brands. It has been a very exciting period for my family and ...a real labour of love!

Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
I adore the ‘Flower Fairies’ and ‘Tooth Fairies’ by my friend Jo from Purkilicious (as per the image above)
She has the most stunning range of handcrafted pieces – from her unique bunting and wall decorations, to the fairy doors and hair accessories. What I really love is the uniqueness of each fairy. Each ‘one off’ tooth fairy comes with a gorgeous enveloped note inside an organza bag. The boys are also not forgotten! ‘Tooth Pixie’s’ are also available. We have a new range of fairies and buntings on their way in the coming weeks.

Name three products you can’t live without? And why?
1. My morning coffee….thanks to my Jura Espresso Machine. I don’t always have time for breakfast so my coffee is a must have!
2. My MacBook which goes where I go – being a mum and business owner this is essential.
3. My favourite perfume…quick and easy when there is no time for make-up…this is any women’s best friend!

If you could style a party for a “well known/A list” celebrity, who would you choose and why?
I would choose Pink – the entertainment side of things would be taken care of! You could certainly think outside the square in relation to the styling and I think she would be refreshing and fun to work with and I am sure the end result would have the ‘wow’ factor.

Name your three favourite party themes and tell us what do you love about them?
I do love the usual pink, girly parties but right now I am admiring some gorgeous boys parties that have been featured recently. I think it is always challenging to find something unique for little men, especially an age appropriate theme as they get older. I loved planning my sons Robin Hood party earlier this year.

Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}Definitely vintage and the handmade revival…up cycling….finding the beauty and the use for preloved goods. I also love the home party planner trend - anyone can now create a memorable event using the amazing range of products available online around the world. I love receiving customer photos with Tout Mon Amour products! It’s so nice to feel I played a small part in creating a little person’s special day.

What is your day-to-day like?
My average day starts at about 6am and I have the kids ready for kindy and school and in the car by 7.45am. I work part-time so on those days I arrive at work at 8.30am. Afternoons are busy with soccer training and dancing so most nights are dedicated to Tout Mon Amour – returning customer email enquiries, packing orders, to organising specials and new items.

What does the future hold for {Tout Mon Amour}?
I am hoping that I will in the near future be able to devote more time on the growth of Tout Mon Amour – it is ‘all my love’ after all!

What is your favourite place in the world?
Oh this is difficult - I have many fond memories of places I have visited but my favourite place in the world would be where my family are lucky enough to live and where we spend lots of time. A few hours at Mooloolaba Beach with my family on a warm, sunny day…..swimming, building sand castles, collecting shells, a walk along the boardwalk topped off with fish and chips at Mooloolaba Spit.

I am so excited to share another fellow guest blogger today who has provided me with so much gorgeous inspiration. Let me introduce the lovely Susana of {Citrus and Orange} blog.

Susana’s amazing work has been featured 3 times on Amy Atlas blog. I am smitten by her passion and love for vintage and romantic style. Below I have featured one of my favorite dessert tables which Susana styled for her daughter’s 9th birthday party. I am totally in love with the colour palette, white hobnail vases and the milk glass cake stands. 1. Tell us a little about YOU, the woman behind {Citrus and Orange}?
I’m an economist, working in corporate finance for the last 15 years. I have 2 girls (one is 9 and the other is 1,5) and Citrusandorange is my favourite place after a hard day’s work and when the kids are in bed! I live in a northern town in Portugal, by the sea, and although I’ve travelled quite a lot, I have never lived outside of my hometown. My dream is to live in a beautiful house and surround myself and others with beautiful things – wether they’d be related to home décor, dessert tables, nice gardens, glamorous parties, beautiful clothes…

2. When did you launch your business/blog?
I created my personal blog Citrusandorange when I became pregnant with my younger daughter (August 2009) – and believe me, I had pregnancy sickness and one of the things that happened was that it took me away from all the things that usually inspire me – I didn’t blog about décor or any other pretty stuff, as they seemed not to appeal to me anymore! So it was only last year, after the baby was born, that I came back to blogging and I’ve been doing it so far – always in my spare time (wish the days had 48 hours!).

3. Who and what inspires your work?
Who: Amy Atlas for table styling, Holly Becker (Decor 8) for interior styling and Leslie Shewring (A Creative Mint) for colour inspiration. What inspires me: nature, colour and art.

4. What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
Being featured 3 times at Amy Atlas’ Sweet Designs! As a non-professional, that means a lot to me! Plus the fact that I get to meet so many lovely people through my blog and my love for sharing the things that inspire me.

5. Name three products you can’t live without? And why?
I’m just saying two, these are the ones I can’t live without:
- Dr. Brandt cosmetics – their Time Arrest line is amazing!!

- My skin really looks better Revlon ColorStay makeup

6. If you could style a party for a “well known/A list” celebrity, who would you choose and why?
Amy Atlas! Kidding! Jude Law would be my choice – I would try make a beautiful eye candy sweet table for him, and I’m sure he would be an eye candy to me! :)

7. Name your three favourite party themes and tell us what do you love about them?
I not a theme type table / party styler, as in Butterfly or Princess party themes. My impulses come out of colours, for instance. So I guess my favourite themes would be something like:

1. nature (anything with flowers, fruits and leaves appeals to me);

2. graphics / patterns themes – I love graphics backdrops and tables coordinated accordingly (I find those hard to make – like Missoni patterns, for instance);

3. Vintage – I love a vintage touch – it doesn’t have to be all vintage, but vintage pieces always add a nice touch.

8. Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}
I love the current vintage / romantic trend.

9. What is your day-to-day like?
Well, I wake up early, leave my daughter at school and start working at 8:30 and I have to either meet clients in their companies or work at the office. A very hectic day, as I have to travel around lots of times. When I get back home (7:30 – 8:00 p.m.), it’s time to have dinner and stay with the kids. I try to take some photos when the days are longer and there’s still light, as I only have the weekends left for that little pleasure. I don’t watch TV, as I try to have time to surf on the net, look for pretty inspiring things, do some shopping, connect with my friends and blog. Lately I’ve been able to blog only at weekends, it’s hard to find the time during the week.

10. What does the future hold for {Citrus and Orange}?
The future holds a new project – it’s still in my mind only, but usually I’m a doer. When I think of something, it’s because it’s going to take place, sooner or later. I’m sorry I’m not able to share more at the moment, but I can tell you that it has to do with party styling. :)

11. What is your favourite place in the world?
The place where my family is. And New York, for other reasons.

My Little Jedi has a {New Look}

Some of you may already know that we have couple of changes as well as few exciting projects happening in the world of {My Little Jedi}.

Having a marketing background has definitely helped me and my brand along the way. I have had a chance to sit down and work on our brand essence and brand personality and as a result we have a clear direction of where our brand is heading and what we would like to achieve going forward. Having said this, we are very excited about what the future holds for My Little Jedi. The first step is working on our brand logo and we have worked collaboratively with Bec from {Ruby Ruby Designs} and she has created an amazing logo for us.

I launched JUNIOR Epitome at the beginning of this year and my blog InStyle KIDS has been going for a number of years.

2. Who and what inspires your work?
My daughter’s inspire me everyday and my love of fashion and style. I love that I can blog about what I love and be home in the morning and afternoons for my daughter’s.

3. What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
The most satisfying part of what I do is when the readers of my blog take the time to read or leave a comment. I love to see that people are enjoying what I do. I LOVE when shoppers take the time to look through and shop in my store ‘JUNIOR Epitome.’

4. What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
Being asked to feature an editorial in ‘Peekaboo Magazine’, and post on the ‘Little Miss Heirlooms’ Blog in America. Seeing that people enjoy what I do.

5. Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
The latest handmade item I bought lately was from Myrtle and Grace a lovely handmade skirt for my niece who just turned 2.

6. What would be your best 3 tips for someone thinking about starting their own business and blog?
1. Research + Plan

7. Name your three favourite products and tell us what do you love about them?

Today's vintage/modern bridal shower has captured my heart and I am so excited to share the beauty of it's tailored simplicity with you all. Last weekend i had the pleasure of styling this utterly charming dessert table for the lovely Maryellen who turned 21. Damask infuses a hint of elegance where ever it emerges. I just love the versatility of the {damask} theme & when paired with purple infusion, dove grey and onyx it turned into a sophisticated party celebration.

The amazing sweet treats were made by the super talented Catherine of 2Bites and Mary of Couture Cakes. Catherine used her special wand again and created these amazing damask inspired cupcakes which tied in perfectly with the theme and colour palette. The rock candy, cool mints, chocolate hearts, jelly beans, chocolate maltesers and raspberry clouds were a hit on the night.

1.When did you launch your business/blog and what is the inspiration behind your business?
I launched Lime Tree Kids in February this year, although it seems much much longer ago , we are only 5 months old.

2.Who and what inspires your work?
The inspiration for my business is my son (I know, terribly cliché, but its true) .. Here’s why. My son was adopted from Taiwan and had a traumatic beginning. He was experiencing massive emotional issues, learning delays and hyperactivity issues along with bad health and obvious traumatic stress. Out of my journey to bond and help his development, came a unique perspective on the incredible benefits of one-on-one play.

My labour of love covered many (and I do mean MANY) and varied products and websites and suddenly I had a passion to share all of my finds on one site with other parents through what became Lime Tree Kids. My son has come so far I just want to share with anyone who will listen the benefits of play therapy (one on one play) laughing , good self esteem etc in our children. Products don’t need to be boring to be educational either !!

3.What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
When I find a product that really reaches the market and helps everyday parents , parent easier. Things like our Glass Baby Bottles were we received such a great response as parents are becoming aware of the harmful chemicals that are in plastics now.. Simple things like finding fun and funky items to enhance social and emotional development of children and also seeing my husband and son be so proud of my business are all extremely satisfying !!!

4.What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
I think the most rewarding part has been when people have emailed me to say they admire my site and what we do. Also to see such an amazing response to our products.. I get all warm and fuzzy inside and take my business and what people think about our products and service very personally! LOL !

5.Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
I am so new to this world and I am AMAZED at how clever some mummies are, I mean REALLY clever. I am obsessed with all things handmade now! Especially as we have a girl coming!! Recently I have ordered a Cuckoo for Coco doll to be made for my little girl. I am SO excited to be getting it next month!!

6.What would be your best 3 tips for someone thinking of styling their own dessert table?
Think Vintage, Think fun and think YUMMY!!! Sorry I never really look past those 3 things and Im not terribly good at decorating (although I follow and admire people who are /do)

7.If you could style a party for a “well known/A list” celebrity, who would you choose and why?
I’d certainly style one for Kate Middleton oops I mean Princess Kate? I am slightly obsessed with her after that wedding fever !!

8.Name your three favourite party themes and tell us what do you love about them?
I Love Superheros for boys birthday, because its an old idea that has lasted the test of time in a little boys heart ! Nothing better then watching little guys running around “flying and leaping “and beating the bad guys. Plus the opportunities are endless to make it as original or fun as you wish .
Baby showers are TO DIE FOR in my book !! I will NEVER say o to attending baby shower! I love all the endless games and decorations and prints and colours and gifts and .. Need I say more ?

Lastly I love a WEDDING Party, a casual beach wedding party is one of the most romantic things to ever attend if done well ! I love the natural feel , the love in the air , the laughter and chit chat, the old fashioned ideas versus the new ideas .. and then all the personal touches showing us who and what the couple find or value important.

9. Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}
I think I tend to go with a blend of Whimsical / vintage at the moment ! I love everything old that has a story behind it (even if we don’t know it) and all things whimsical make my heart sing !!

10.What is your day-to-day like?
Um Im a mum of a HIGHLY spirited 4 year old boy , I run 2 businesses so I’d say : Crazy , Manic, busy , sweet , funny , slightly insane and then just plain fun !

11.What does the future hold for {Lime Tree Kids}?
We are expanding quite rapidly at the moment and have begun looking at some items that aren’t saturated in the market place such as French wooden kitchens, Danish design items and sourcing new exciting products. We are still finding our niche but its certainly been fun so far !

12.What is your favourite place in the world?
My favourite place in the world right this very second is Taiwan. Im itching to go pick up our new daughter whom we are adopting and bring her home so our family will be complete. After that my favourite place is always at home with my family on a beautiful Gold Coast sunny day ;-)

Modern, cheerful and delicious, this is what Miette is all about! Located in San Francisco, Miette is the most charming pastry shop. A beautiful space filled with sweet candy and divine cakes.

From the floral wallpaper to the vintage lights to the wooden cabinet, this has provided me with loads of inspiration for Anikens 2nd birthday party. The biggest eye-catcher, is the rainbow of sweets in apothecary jars lining the walls from floor to ceiling. Everything in this store is absolutely amazing and truly a work of art! If the road ever takes me to San Francisco I will be definitely visiting this divine store and treat myself to something beautiful from Miette. xx

My children inspire me and I just love what I am doing.... if you have passion for what you do the rest will all fall into place for you, it all flows. The sites that I write for, the wonderful people I write for are what inspire me as well. I love to see what is new out there for the all of our children, all the beautiful new clothes, toys etc.....it really excites me and drives me.

3.What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
I love writing about the beautiful products that I get to actually see. Also getting the feedback from the wonderful shops about how I write, this really excites me as they say I am so sincere but this is what I am honestly feeling. I do write from the heart and this does show and come through in my work, I love to give everyone, honest and lovely features for their stores for free.

4.What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
Having sites approach me now to have their shops featured on Little Crew, even as far away as the United States, being called the " industry expert" which was just such an honour. I have worked really hard to get Little Crew to this stage.

5.Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
This is tough! I think I would have to say "recently" the Forest Scene Tutu by heavenly creatures which is so delicately made, just beautiful. Oh and the Little Pink Pinafore by Little Miss J.

6.What would be your best 3 tips for someone thinking about starting their own business and blog?
1. Think about what it is you are passionate about
2. carefully plan the setting up of your business, blog and who you are marketing and how plan to go about marketing it as well.
3. Go for it and really enjoy it, have a wonderful time exploring and don't be afraid to talk to people, you are going to be surprised at just how many are willing to help you out there. It's a steep learning curve but well worth it.....keep at it.

7. Name your three favourite products and tell us what do you love about them? Okay!
1. I love love my 2 year old's munster halfway tee, it's super, so stylish, super cute and she calls the cat Mario after her Granny's cat. Which sounds so adorable, The top itself just looks so good on her what else can I say, except that her sister who is 9 wears the same top and they look adorable together.
2.I also love my sons framed picture from Ministyle called "Hamish's world" which is a nautical map of the world and its brilliant, we had his name placed on the bottom which is what can you do-it's all about Hamish and it makes him feel special, like the captain of a ship which is the theme of his room.
3.The last thing that I have to say is a favourite in this house is the Magic tree house, now I think most us of had one of these as a child and they have brought them back again......I got this from Design Child, these are just awesome.

8. Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}
I really love the baggy pants that are coming back into style, the whole bollywood theme, like Shampoodle are doing, Rittenhouse have done some and they were fabulous, my girls have a pair each of baggy Littlehorn trackie pants in a similar style called Littlehorn Rough and Tumble Pant and they are just great with huge pockets that sit on the outside. They look like they are inside out. Very cool look, comfy and I think quite practical for kids.

9. What is your day-to-day like?
VERY VERY busy. I am up early, I drive to 2 different schools, back home to tidy up. I am a neat freak and then it's try and get some writing done, emails, calls etc before Indigo goes off for a nap, more writing and oh yes maybe eat something....YES a coffee!! Then before I know it I am back to pick everyone up again. I think I am like a typical Mum with 2 or 3 children. EXHAUSTED.

10.What does the future hold for {Little Crew}?
My plans are to keep writing for everyone for free, that's not going to change. I am getting advertising on bard now which is a huge change and very exciting one. The next step would be to find a sponsor for Little Crew which I think is achievable, we have the traffic, it's growing at a steady pace and I am working on it continuously. I am also very happy to work alongside a sponsor to grow it to a suitable level for them. I won't stop.

11.What is your favourite place in the world?
My favourite place in the world is lake Wabby on Fraser Island.....the peace and tranquility is second to none. Unfortunately I think it will disappear one day as the sand creeps in. The water is crystal clear and its just untouched, the beautiful trees and bushland around it is superb. I just adore the area. I miss it already.

Glamour, timeless beauty, ethereal style…That is how I would describe Anthropologie.

Estera Events and Style Unveiled created this incredible wedding setup and the style of the shoot was inspired by Anthropologie & BHLDN. The divine palette of pretty pink, peach and silver was brought together beautifully. The highlights for me are the amazing flower centerpieces arranged in vintage chic mercury glass vases, textured sequined linen, elegantly draped walls and the metallic touches.

After viewing this gorgeous shoot I was very inspired and created my latest birthday invitation which has hints of Anthropologie & BHLDN style. Check out Style Unveiled for even more amazing pictures and a great video of the set up for the photo shoot. I am in obsession mode!

Tell us a little about YOU, the woman behind {Lily Chic Events}?

1.When did you launch your business/blog and what is the inspiration behind your business?
I launched Lily Chic Events in May 2010. I initially began Lily Chic Events after my Premature Twins came home from hospital. I knew I would be home with them for at least 12 months, so what began as a ‘let’s see what happen’s’ actually became ‘this is what I want to do forever!’ Five years ago, I worked for an Event Decorator on the weekends and loved going to venues and styling the room. I always felt so happy walking away from every job, knowing I was making such a difference to so many people. Who wouldn’t want a job like that? So, when my husband asked me, ‘What makes you happy?’ that was all I could think about. So the journey began!

2.Who and what inspires your work?
Initially, I began by researching ‘trends’ on Facebook. Now, I am a loyal follower of so many Blog’s that I get inspiration daily from these. In the last two months, I have really enjoyed using Pinterest. I actually get inspired from the smallest of images. A certain colour, a prop, a saying, the supermarket! I also work three days a week at Bunnings…and even walking through the door handle aisle stops me in my tracks when I see a certain knob or lock! I religiously follow Amy Atlas, Kate Landers, Pizzazzarie, Celebrations at Home and The Tomkat Studio. They have the most inspiring Submissions! My all time favourite Wedding Guru is Preston Bailey! His work and honesty enthrals me. I read his blog every chance I get!

3.What is the most satisfying part of what you do?
Watching it all come together on the day and then seeing the pictures of my clients having fun with my design. My best friend allowed me to style her entire Wedding in March this year. I was so nervous as I was actually at the Wedding afterwards as a guest and I was going to see how the guests interacted with my table design. After seeing so many of her friends touching and talking about the centrepieces, I was so proud that I was able to create a visual that the guests could talk about. I had placed 70cm Martini Vases filled with Water Beads and LED lights in the centre of the table. The male guests were fascinated with them! That’s the best bit for me!

4.What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
That would have to be my first ever submission to Amy Atlas Blog being picked up and printed the very next day! I submitted it very late on a Friday night and when I woke up on the Saturday morning it was there! I had worked really hard collaborating with so many, talented Work At Home Mum’s, that I was so proud of all of us…and wanted to show it off. I never imagined it would all be so easy he he! The day of the shoot was actually a hard day for me as my twins were admitted into hospital so my husband had to take them in and I stayed at home with the photographer to finish the shoot. Once we were done, I literally brought all the food inside and hopped in the car to see my girls. Talk about an emotional day!

5.Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
I have a few! I love my Custom Spring Bunting made by Kerrie from Tara K Designs. It’s so well made and the material is gorgeous! It’s about 5 metres long and I can’t wait to use it again. I also purchase Ribbon Wands from Pinwheels and Pearls at any chance I can! I just love the simplicity of them and the girls love playing with them. Another, is the Wooden Rose Bouquet’s made by Kristy from Eternal Memories Wooden Flowers. They are amazing and I love the fact you can re-use them.

6.What would be your best 3 tips for someone thinking of styling their own dessert table?I am fairly new to the dessert table trend. So, for me, this is what I have found works well. 1. Give it height. I find sometimes the gorgeous vase placed at the back is hidden by the lolly jar in front of it, which is a shame. I like to think of it as a 3D Puzzle! If I took a picture of it front on, could I see all of the little elements? 2. Use a backdrop. Even if it is a window, use this to your advantage. Perhaps frame the window with a lovely curtain in a fabric that matches your table. 3. Take photo’s of your hard work BEFORE anyone takes one sweet off your lovely table! I have so many clients say they wish they took more photo’s of the untouched design. We can all get caught up when guests start arriving, so take time to get the photo’s done before you take that first glass of well deserved wine!

7.If you could style a party for a “well known/A list” celebrity, who would you choose and why?
Angelina Jolie. A woman with that many kids would have the best parties! Imagine the theme’s you could create in her backyard! AND…no doubt there would be an unlimited budget.

8.Name your three favourite party themes and tell us what do you love about them?
Now this is a tough question! To be totally honest, I love the unusual, one off party themes. The theme’s that reflect the individual person. Like a Sunshine Party, a Mario Brothers Party, a Sweet Clementine Party, a BMX Bandit Party, an Arty Party. You get the picture. These are the parties I get really excited about! I do love the Fairy, Princess, and Pirate Parties too, but it’s more the unique elements that I love!

9.Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}
I love the personalised favours trend. The token ‘lolly bag’ that was full of unrelated trinkets has almost disappeared and instead we are seeing the guests taking home a part of the party that is useable and unique. Customising these are even better. How special these guests must feel! I know when I go to a Wedding as a guest and there sitting at my seat is a cute note from the bride and groom thanking me for coming. This note is attached to a gift all for me! I love walking in and seeing what they have chosen. The same goes for children’s parties.

10.What is your day-to-day like?
I have four children. A 11 year old, a 10 year old and identical twins that are 14 months old, all girls. Generally, I wake up at 7:30am and get the kids lunches done. I then feed the twins and then get them in the car for the school drop off. We come home and we play. I have my coffee and read some Blogs. The twins sleep for at least two hours during the day, so this is when I answer emails, pack orders or buy stock. Once they are up, it’s lunch and play before picking up the girls from school. Then it’s a combination of dancing lessons and girl guides (depending on the day), dinner is made sometime in there, and then it’s bath time for the twins. Bottle, then bed for them by 7:30pm, and then we help the older girls with their homework. Once they are I bed, I am usually back on the Mac doing ‘work’ again! I also work as a Manager at Bunnings three days a week so that keeps me very busy!

11.What does the future hold for {Lily Chic Events}?
I am constantly reviewing my Business Plan. I have achieved so much in 12 months and I didn’t think I would be where I am 12 months ago. I am building the business with small steps. It’s not realistic for me to be Styling Events every week as it is only me, and I can only achieve so much. But, in saying that, as the business grows, so will the need for me to decide whether to go full time or not. I hope to collaborate with lot’s more ‘cyber’ friends this year, and build a profile for creating unique events.

12.What is your favourite place in the world?
The olden days! I want to live in the days of Shirley Temple, Fred Astaire, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang, Mary Poppins, Elvis Presley and Doris Day! I want to own a car with white wall tyres, swim in lagoons and sing the Copacabana! Wouldn’t be great to live in the day’s where you were ‘pinned’ by a boy and you were served a milkshake on roller skates? That is my favourite place in the world…the innocence of yesteryear!!

Scrabble Crush...

I have seen so much scrabble all over the blogosphere and I have to admit that I am amazed and inspired by people’s creativity. I am loving the trend of using scrabble tiles as part of wedding décor, its such a sweet way to share and incorporate something you love and put your spin on it.

To take something so simple and apply it so creatively, its absolutely gorgeous. Whether you're a scrabble fan or not, you will definitely love these inspirational mood boards. With this in mind, I cannot wait to incorporate scrabble into my own designs.

I’m excited to share this amazingly inspiring interview with our lovely readers today. I would like to introduce you to the uber talented Sharnel Dollar, a highly sought event planner and owner of a bespoke event styling business, named Sharnel Dollar Designs. Amongst all other things, Sharnel is well known for her signature dessert tables.

In the last 2 years, there is a huge focus on styling the perfect dessert table, having said that Sharnel has executed every event to perfection. She has shared the 3most important tips to keep in mind when you are styling your next dessert table. Starting from choosing the perfect backdrop to adding dimension and layers as well as mixing your patterns and textures, Sharnel has it all covered.

As Sharnel has mentioned in the interview below, the highlight of her amazing career is the divine baby shower she styled for the queen of daytime TV – Oprah. While Oprah was in Australia late last year, Sharnel had the honour of styling the most amazing baby shower which was showcased on TV and had the whole of Australia totally smitten.

Also, many of us have seen her gorgeous work in many magazines such as Peekaboo Magazine, South Australia Home Liftout Sunday Mail and alongside the amazing Oprah, Sharnel was featured in the Courier Mail last December. Enjoy the interview xx

When did you launch your business/blog and what is the inspiration behind your business? I began my blogging journey in January 2009 and my business launched in June 2010 after receiving encouraging advice and feedback from Amy Atlas.I have a background in Marketing and have always had a keen interest in interior design, theatre, music and food (especially desserts).

Who and what inspires your work?
I’m most influenced by colour. I can get teary over colour. Whether it’s the colour of a flower, a piece of fabric or the sky. Colour makes me happy.

What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?This would have to be hands down designing and styling the Baby Shower hosted by Oprah last year. Meeting Oprah and working with her team was an absolute pleasure. I was fortunate to work with some wonderful vendors on this project too, for without them I wouldn’t have been able to produce such a beautiful shower. I have also met some beautiful woman during my short but rewarding career. Woman that I now have the honour of calling my friend.

Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
To be honest, I haven’t bought anything handmade recently. My daughter though made me a single paper diamond earring to match the other one I thought I had lost. I will keep it forever.

What would be your best 3 tips for someone thinking of styling their own dessert table?
1.Consider the background. Where is the table going to be placed and how will the background coordinate. Adding a strip of wallpaper, fabric or painted background to mdf backdrop can really add extra visual impact to a dessert table.

2.Add dimension and think layers. Vary the height of your vessels and stands and remember to think three dimensionally. Place items behind and in front of each other.

3.Mix your patterns and textures. Create visual interest by using different textured foods and vessels. Smooth v bumpy. Gloss v matte.

If you could style a party for a “well known/A list” celebrity, who would you choose and why?
Well I’ve sort of ticked that one off the list already! But I would love to style a wedding or bridal shower for Reese Witherspoon. I love her classic no nonsense taste in fashion.

Do you have a favourite trend? {it could be related to anything}
I must say I’m really enjoying the reality cooking shows especially Masterchef. It is such a clever show and my favourite cook is Maggie Beer, I could listen to her all day long. She is such a warm and beautiful soul.

What is your day-to-day like?
Things are a little busy around here at present. I need to slow down and enjoy the ride. My favourite part of the day is snuggling with my kids on the sofa after bathtime. I wake up at 5.30am check emails and organise the kids school bags before waking them at 6.30am. We are out the door by 7.30am. Once I’m back home I pick and pack orders and reorder stock as necessary. I spend quite a bit of time at my children’s schools helping out where I can. On a perfect day I like to have dinner a least preparerd before school pick up. I love my slow cooker!

Once home from school there are the normal things to do like homework, unpacking, lunches for the next day, dinner and bathtime. Once kids are in bed I spend a few hours working whether it’s packing orders or liaising with clients for their upcoming celebrations.

What does the future hold for {Sharnel Dollar Designs}?
I would like to break into the corporate sector providing my sweet and dessert tables for functions and events.I would also like to launch my on line of products!

What is your favourite place in the world?
Anywhere with a beautiful view, peace and quiet, my husband next to me and my kids on my lap and my closest friends nearby.

Tiffany and Co 21st Birthday Party

Breakfast at Tiffany’s in one of my favorite movies and I don’t know any woman who doesn’t get excited over that gorgeous blue box. I was absolutely delighted when I was asked to style this dessert table with Suzanna of Mon Tresor. The colour palette we chose for the event was tiffany blue, pink with touch of gold and crystal. The waterfront venue for this special Tiffany & Co event had the most magnificent ambiance and understated elegance and glamour.

The sweets and candy matched perfectly with the rest of the theme and we can’t go past and not mention the divine flower arrangements which featured david austen roses and dusty miller flowers. The candy jars were perfectly embellished with the gorgeous tiffany blue ribbon and crystal broaches.

I was also delighted to custom make the printables for the event which coordinated perfectly with the rest of the wonderful pieces. We had the most amazing time styling this dessert table with Suzanna and we are so honoured to have it featured on the beautiful Pizzazzerie blog today. Enjoy xx

Jayde:‘I remember my first stamp purchase! I was visiting my Nan and Pop in Victoria in their hometown of Frankston. We would take little trips to Bayside shopping centre and my Grandparents would always buy me a little gift, usually something I could create with! My Nan is a big crafter, and quite a skilled one at that! I remember my Nan taking me into the very new Cardiology shop and I was very heart fluttered! From a young age I was very fond of stationery, I am even more so now ;) but I had never seen a whole shop with such beautiful stationery and most importantly...Stamps!

They were all in rows and rows on the wall and all had a little wooden top with the picture on the wood of what the stamp created! There was ink pads galore, and not just solid colours, I remember seeing a rainbow pad and thinking it was the best thing I had ever seen! There was embossing powders and plain cards to make your own cards and just everything a little (and big) girl could dream of!

My Pop would wander in from time to time and I would show him the hard choice I was making and you could tell he was busting to just let me take them all home, but my lovely Nan knew not to over spoil....just spoil enough! Finally I made my choice! A beautiful stamp of a heart of little flowers and she let me pick a mini pad and I chose red because I thought that hearts should be red!

I think I stamped every possible piece of paper, I wrote my Parents letters just so I could stamp them and my Pop sat with me for so long stamping away and he even got out the old school date stamps to use so he wasn’t using mine...I did want to share, but he knew I was having too much fun with it all! He always joined in with my adventures, I even have a picture of him doing ballet with me :) The next day my Nan had things to do and my pop snuck me back to the shopping centre and bought me all the stamps I was trying to choose between....and a rainbow stamp pad :) not because I asked, it was a very big surprise for me, he just saw how much I loved using my little stamp and thought I needed them all! I still have them all, and quite a few more now!

I don’t think I realised until writing this that my love of stamps must come from that experience! My Nan patiently and so happily watching me choose the little stamp like I was choosing a puppy to take home and my very cheeky Pop completely spoiling me with stamps not because I was selfish and wanting more(although I am quite sure I badly wanted more) but because he saw the joy in my face that a tiny little object made from rubber bought his granddaughter and he just loved me......I loved him everyday of my life and still do and miss him so much and especially miss the love he had for me!

Today I sit in my little shop surrounded by the most beautiful stamps from all over the world and honestly smile when I look at them! They are just beautiful! A customer came in with her daughter in the holidays and let her choose a little treat, it didn’t take her long, but she picked a tin of stamps that included a stamp that had a ‘thank you’ stamp in it! I asked her what she would be creating and she said she wanted to make a card for her Grandma and Grandad to say Thank you for having her the previous week. It made my heart melt! Stamps are awesome.’

say it with 'Chevron'

I've been seeing a lot of {chevron} patterns popping up everywhere in the design blogosphere and I must admit, I'm totally smitten by it. I've always loved herringbone and honeycomb patterns and the latest addition of chevron design is just a more modern twist on that classic zig zag pattern.

Even though I have been a fan of chevron décor for a while but lately this obsession has stepped up a notch. From cards, invitations, chairs, to rugs, to walls, chevron is here to stay and this is how my latest chevron envelopes printable collection was born. To confirm by chevron obsession, i have designed my latest business cards with this lovely candy chevron design and i am also desperately waiting for my chevron monogram iphone cover. {image below}. This is my spin on this everlasting trend. I hope you flaunt the chevron design just as much as I do! xx

Delightfully Sweet Alice in Wonderland Party

Spotted! Totally sweet & adorable {Alice in Wonderland} dessert table! What makes it even more special that my dear friend Niki of {Candy Soirees} worked collaboratively with Kate of {Kiss Me Kate} and these two amazing masterminds have created a masterpiece which I would love to share with all our readers today.

I absolutely adore the story itself, its classic with plenty of fun and iconic figures to plan a theme around. The use of divine pastel colours, mix of textures and patterns and an eclectic tower of teacups, Niki and Kate have created a wonderful whimsical event. There are so many amazing details featured in this lovely dessert table, for me the stand outs are the lovely backdrop, vintage tea cup tower and the divine teapot cake . The hanging baroque frames and clock as well as the tea cup tower add a touch of whimsy to this special event. I have to admit this is one of my favourite Alice in Wonderland parties I have even seen. And when you combine the amazing styling of Niki with the deliciously gorgeous sweets made by Kate it all turns into magic! Enjoy xx
